- Sleep on your side not on your back: You're more likely to snore if you're lying on your back, and sleeping on your stomach is stressful on your neck
- Avoid Alcohol and medicine: Review your medicine and avoid alcohol. Many sleeping medicine can suppress your nervous system and relax the muscles of your throat and jaw, making snoring more likely.
- Sleep on a single low pillow. Sleeping on high many pillows can stretch and narrow the nasal passage.
- Avoid drinking coffee, alcohol, and trying to relax your stomach before sleep. Lose your weight it also will improve your sleep.

Sounds like it would work! I have a Bi-pap.
A friend of mine used one of those awful machines ( actually I know several people who do) and she absolutely hated it. She finally located a mouth piece to used instead and is so happy with it!
I'm happier with the mouth piece too, especially in the summer when the CPAP would make me sweat and slide off my face and wake me up.
But I have large Tauri(sp) bone structure in my mouth that sometimes make my mouthpiece not fit well. :(
I think I'll recommend this to my dad. I know he's been having sleep apnea already because of all of the symptoms.
But the problem is, he has hyperthyroidism. Is using a mouth piece when sleeping still ok?
I don't think it's uncomfortable because it's molded in your mouth btw.
My father suffered with snoring and it was mainly due to his gradual weight gain over the years. Eventually everyone in the household was getting so irritated that he decided to fix the problem. He was able to lose most of the weight but the snoring wouldnt disappear! So my mother took the initiative and bought him a SnoreMeds mouthpiece.
At first he was a bit hesitant to use it but after moulding it and getting use to using it he actually found that the mouthpiece was comfortable- and it helped his snoring! It basically works by gently holding your lower jaw in a slightly forward position while you sleep. By doing this the mouthpiece opens up the airway in your throat and causes the air to slow down and flow through more freely, therefore eliminating your snoring basically from day one! From then on his snoring has virtually been none-existent and we are ALL sleeping a lot better.
I have had sleep apnea for quite a while and unfortunately I couldn't get used to the cpap machines.
It can be very difficult to live with.
10X about the info, i don't know nothing about mouthpiece, but it sounds good idea... i'll try it soon
